immersive video capturing critical ER procedures for medical training
When Every Second Counts
The first few moments a patient is in the emergency room can determine whether they live or die. MedStar Washington needed a way to scale their ER training program and reduce liability for doctors in training, while still giving them realistic exposure to the high-pressure environment they'd face on the job.
Our Approach
Working alongside veteran hospital staff and Navy SEAL performance experts from Arena Labs, we created a series of 360-degree videos that captured the critical first moments of ER admission — giving doctors in training a front-row seat to real emergency room procedures.
360-Degree ER Capture
Using immersive 360 video technology, we filmed real emergency room scenarios to create training materials that provide full environmental context — not just a textbook view, but the complete sensory experience of an active ER.
Expert Collaboration
The production brought together MedStar's veteran hospital staff with performance experts from Arena Labs to ensure the training scenarios accurately reflected real-world ER conditions and best practices.
Scalable Training Delivery
The XR experiences were designed for broad deployment across MedStar's organization, enabling consistent training delivery without requiring dedicated physical training spaces or one-on-one instructor time.
The Results
The immersive training series became an integral part of MedStar Washington's medical training program.
Doctors in training gained realistic exposure to ER procedures before encountering them in live patient settings.
The program is now used across MedStar's organization for ongoing medical education.
Immersive Training for High-Stakes Environments
By combining 360-degree video with expert clinical guidance, Capitol Interactive helped MedStar Washington bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world emergency medicine — giving trainees the context and confidence they need before their first day on the floor.
